Welcome everyone! My art represents what I believe is the next step in the eventualities of graphical evolution... in other words, I believe that I am helping the cause, piece by piece, to break us out of the horrid Window's default graphics world we liv

Everyone who I've upset, I'm sorry. Recently there has been some weird vibes between those who use Bryce, and those who are sick of the lack of moderation of these images.

I expressed my opinions, but they were taken harshly, especially by the moderators, and for that, I apologize. I never meant what I said to hit anyone at home. I was only expressing my opinions. Please, anyone who I upset, forgive me.

As a result of my comments, one of my walls, which had an opening rating of 8, was removed by someone, after slipping to a 3 (despite the wall being good, and having 300+ downloads in less that 5 hours). So I hope things can return to the way they were.

I respect all of you, and all of your work. We may have different styles of work, but we all are talented at what we do, in our own ways. I hope you all can realize where I'm coming from with my opinions and comments, and I hope you can all also forgive me.

Thanks,

macrobaye

Speaking as a non-wallpaper author, I don't have a problem with Bryce. Stardock used Bryce in making landscapes for Galactic Civilizations.

The problem isn't the tool. It's that it's very easy to fall into the trap of just letting it do all the work. Sort of like in the case where Photoshop novices will take something and apply a few of the standard filters to it and think it looks cool but in fact it looks like a gagillion other things like it.

Ultimately, wallpapers are judged based on their wallpaper quality. That is, can you put icons and other things on it and still find it useful and visually nice.

macrobaye, the only way your wall can be removed is if you take it off or a moderator does for reasons of a rip, or you ask him to. So it should still be there. Remember, these discussions do get heated, but they usually are not aimed at anyone person. I like a lot of the Bryce walls as evident of my comments on them, but also they a lot of them are starting to look the same. Must be from the new brycers not being that proficient in it yet.Todays another day. Oh and yes, I'd like to see moderation go back to what it was.

macrobaye - what's the name of the wall that dissapeared? I don't see one in your stats with a low rating.
on Aug 04, 2003
There is one which [I assume] you removed yourself....perhaps in error?...
on Aug 04, 2003
No, it was called Bryce on LSD, and it was there when I left for work, but when I got back 6 hours later, it had been removed.
on Aug 04, 2003
I did remove one or two things that were pulling my rating down, but I didn't remove Bryce on LSD...

There's no wallpaper with that name in your uploads (including ones that aren't posted).

Could you re-send it? with a name like that it should be easy to spot. It's not a "joke" wall is it? I don't see how it could disappear unless you or a moderator removed it.

I know its not there anymore, because somehow it was removed. It wasn't really a joke, it was a good looking wall paper, but I made it clear that it was made in Bryce and took 5 minutes to make (aside rendering times). But the rating of the wall went from an opening 8, to a 4 after people got mad that it was made in such a short time, with such a high download rate. I can try to upload it again, but I'm afraif the Admins will rate it low, despite the high original rating, and the quality of the wall...

on Aug 04, 2003
why would we do that? btw - I'm an admin...
on Aug 04, 2003
Well I only assume that, because after some comments made by me and others on that wall, the rating lowered from an 8 to a 4.

macrobaye..there are a total of 11 walls either visible or 'deleted' with the word 'Bryce' in their title...non of which is yours. My only guess is that a 'bug' has inadvertently hidden or deleted it from the database....
on Aug 04, 2003
So should I just re-upload it?
on Aug 04, 2003
yes

I hesitated to add to this thread so I will keep it brief... when Gabe and I started this thing, we promised to try and remain calm and cool no matter what. It was supposed to be a satire thus we tried to keep anger out of it and for the most part, it didn't get out of hand.

Severe anger infrequently helps get a point across although sometimes a sterness does help.

Glad to see people are cooling off again though.

As WOM said, GIVE US SOME MODERATION AGAIN... PUHLEEZE?
on Aug 04, 2003
yes, we need more moderation. good walls are getting pushed down the list, and off the Just Added section, by walls that would otherwise not be on there.
